Smithson-Craighead Academy observes the Zero Tolerance policy developed by Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Offenses that threaten the safety of students or staff will not be tolerated. Any principal, assistant principal/dean or administrative designee of any public school in the state of Tennessee is authorized to suspend a pupil from attending the school, including its sponsored activities, or from riding a school bus, for good and sufficient reasons and assign a reasonable punishment for each offense. A student may be suspended up to 10 days or expelled for more than 10 days up to one calendar year for non-Zero Tolerance offenses. Zero-Tolerance offenses require a calendar year expulsion mandated by Tennessee Code Annotated.
